Physical Collection Development
The Library Media Center follows several criteria for the selection of all library materials. Teachers, staff, and students have an open invitation to recommend purchases. Selection criteria involves materials that are of curricular need, have received good reviews from resources such as Horn Book, School Library Journal, etc., and/or are winners or nominees of awards such as Pura Belpre, Nutmeg, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, and Newbery.
Every effort is made to collect across a broad range of subjects; i.e. social studies, science & technology, world cultures, and English/literature. Special attention is given to curricular units and themes to support the classical studies curriculum.

Digital Collection Development
The Library Media Center mirrors the physical materials collection development policy in the selection of digital resources. Teachers, staff, and students have an open invitation to recommend web resources to be added to the collection. Selection criteria involves resources that fulfill a curricular need, in particular with themes that support classical studies units. This collection is intended to contain fewer, but more specific resources in order for students to easily navigate content. In addition to these criteria, special emphasis is given to those resources that may not be easily found on the Internet by students or teachers.
