Hello Ross Woodward Explorers! This is the time of year I usually visit each classroom and talk about the importance of reading over the summer. I usually tell you about the "summer slide" and let you know that reading over the summer is one of the most important things you can do to make sure you don't lose the skills that you worked so hard to gain over the school year. Wow, is this year different! While it is still true that reading will help you keep your mental muscles fit, I am now telling you that reading over the summer is even more important than ever.
Reading can help you explore new places -real and imaginary. Reading can help you feel connected even when you are feeling alone. Reading can help you answer your questions about topics like sharks, the weather, or even ancient pyramids. Reading can help you learn about the beginnings of our country and understand current events today. Reading can help you find your voice. Please read this summer! The program has gone virtual this year and participants will be recognized. Go to: New Haven Public School's Summer Reading Program for 2020. Don't forget to log your reading each time you finish a book!
