Pass Policy
- Students may visit the library during homeroom (9:00-9:30am) to exchange a book as long as they are carrying a blue classroom library pass.
- No more than two students from the same class or homeroom may visit the library at the same time.
- Student library visits are limited to ten minutes in order to allow other students from the same class or homeroom to have an opportunity to exchange a book.
- Because there are classes held in the LMC throughout the day, students may not visit the library outside of homeroom or their regularly scheduled library class.
Scheduling Policy
- To schedule classes in the LMC, teachers must contact the Library Media Specialist (LMS). Teachers can e-mail or stop by the library.
- The teacher and LMS jointly schedule class time in the library. Additional class time can be scheduled as needed.
- The LMS is available to collaboratively plan units with the teacher. Collaborative plans are easiest to accomplish utilizing the backward design process. For example, teachers should have in mind a topic and a product (paper/project/presentation) that the students are expected to produce. The LMS will provide suggestions and guidance to teachers to incorporate research skills, information and technology literacy standards into the unit.
- Teachers must remain with their class in the LMC during all visits. Teachers are responsible for content, while the LMS is responsible for research /information / technology literacy skill building.
- LMS is available to aid in student product evaluation.
